Council to outlaw smoking in specific areas

Council spent 20+ minutes at its September meeting discussing the fine points in its Smoking bylaw. It will prohibit smoking in three major areas

• on the grounds of the recreation areas.
• within 10 meters of the main entrance of town building
• within a 4 meter radius of the town's 4 bus stops. 

The Bridgewater bylaw was the template for the Hantsport bylaw.
The town has no bylaw officer. Smoke Free Kings will provide signs.
The bylaw will be one of several to be discussed at a public meeting.
Hantsport will be the first town in the province to outlaw smoking at bus stops.
