FOR BLOGGEES: NOVA SCOTIA's HIGH TIDES

LINK

Several people who read this blog have never experienced the Bay of Fundy tide. One is Isobel
Elder my Scottish pen pal who is visiting BC next year.
The above link is for you.

I experienced it one hot summer day when I went on a Blomidon Naturalist Society field trip at  North Grand PrĂ©. We were looking at petrified clams and a petrified forest. It was an exceptionally low tide and we went out as far as we could to find the items.

All was fine until the tide turned as we were walking back. The incoming water curled around us as we quickly tried to return to shore. Jim Walford had taken a large plastic garbage can to help any one who might get stuck in the quicksand-like muck.

A few years ago several unsuspecting illegal immigrants at Macumber Bay off north-west England were caught in such a tide and drowned.
