PRESS RELEASE
December 16, 2013
The
Hantsport Memorial Community Centre (HMCC) launches a new community
recreational facility with the creation of an off-leash dog park located at the
corner of Highway 1 and Main Street in Hantsport.
Lorraine
McQueen, President of HMCC stated that this is the most recent development in a
long history of the creation of community recreation facilities created for the
benefit of the residents of Hantsport and the wider community. McQueen stated, “We are delighted to
announce the creation of another opportunity for community building and an
active and healthy life style for our neighbours. Fundraising plans are already in place to
support this new facility."
Ron
Such, First Vice-President, noted that rules for the use of the Park will be
posted and it is expected that owners and handlers will respect this
opportunity to exercise and have fun with their pets. In addition, it is hoped that the former
unwelcome practice of allowing dogs to run off-leash on recreational fields on
HMCC property will immediately cease.
Hantsport
is a Town of walkers and dog owners. The
HMCC Board is hopeful that many in Hantsport and in surrounding communities
will make good use of this new off-leash park and all the excellent
recreational facilities provided by HMCC.
