Below are the programs which we, the citizens of the area,  chose at IMAGINE HANTSPORT to make the this a better place to live.

Arts Council

The Arts Council would be a group to support and promote the many artists in the Hantsport Area.  This is one of the projects that is next on the list for HARC.

 

Awesome Hantsport

The Awesome Foundation is a worldwide organization whose tag line is “Forwarding the interest of Awesome in the Universe $1000 at a time.” The idea is to get local community members to invest their own dollars to support great projects. The investors get to select what project they support, and the project receives $1000 to do whatever they have presented to make the world more Awesome.

 

Café or Restaurant at Train Station/ Cars

This is an idea to use the Train Station and possibly cars to create a café or restaurant in the station with small shops located in train cars.

 

Community Clean Up Day

Community clean-up day is an opportunity to have the community come forward to help the Town be as beautiful as possible with limited resources. This may include fixing up flower beds, trimming trees, picking up litter, or anything else to help us beautify.

The HARC has this on its list for roll out in the spring.

 

Filling Store Fronts

This idea is about how the HARC can help to revitalize the Main Street commercial sector by helping to attract and retain retail/ commercial tenants for currently vacant properties.

 

Hot Air Balloon Rides

Hot Air Balloon Rides is looking at the possibility of having hot air balloons launched close to Hantsport, and fly over the Town or possibly the Avon River. The idea would be to start with a balloon or two and then possibly grow it into a festival. This could be a great draw to the area. There has been some very preliminary research done on this possible project.

 

Networking Group

This idea is all about how we can work together for the betterment of Hantsport and Area. This could include how we get to know each other better, how we welcome people to our community, and how we use the great people of the Hantsport Area to help grow Hantsport.

Placemaking

Placemaking is the process of creating squares, plazas, parks, streets and waterfronts that will attract people because they are pleasurable or interesting. This idea would be to build something as a community that could be used/ appreciated by the community, as well as attract people to visit our Town. Some ideas have been discussed to date, and the group hopes to have a project underway this coming summer.

 

Red Barn Uses

This idea is about how the HARC can help HMCC with the future use or ideas for the Red Barn. 

 

Senior’s Complex

The Senior’s Complex group is looking at the possibility of having a Senior’s Care Facility built in the Town. This could help create jobs, and allow residents to stay in their home community longer. There is a working group for this project. There has been discussions and presentations from experts in the field, and the group has written a letter to the province to gauge interest.

 

Teen Centre

The Teen Centre is an idea to have a space our young people can call their own. This would be a space that they can go to hang out, relax, and enjoy their peers. This is one of the projects that is next on the list for HARC.

 

Thinker’s Lodge

The Thinker’s Lodge idea is about how we can attract the brightest and best to the Town. The idea is to have a place for professionals to stay for a period of time where they can do their own work, and also help us review Town issues from a unique perspective. This is a concept that will take some time and planning, but could pay great dividends for the Town.
