UPDATES: BUDGET, ASSESSMENT, WINTER CARNIVAL, AND MORE!

The town is into its 4th quarter in its budget. It has received  99% of its projected revenue and spent 75% of its expenses, CAO Rob Frost announced at the town's January council meeting. "We are a little better than on track; however, we can't project the weather." The pipe at the Willow Street bridge may cause more problems.


The members of the Public Works department worked three weeks straight in December and January, Frost reported. CLLR Margot Bureaux asked if there were contingency plans if more workers were needed. Martin Kehoe from the water plant is available if necessary.

The Assessment Role was updated December 31. The figures will be out January 14. Residents have three weeks to appeal. CAO Frost estimated that the residential assessment will be up slightly and the commercial down slightly. He estimates Fundy Gypsum assessment to be down 10% or $20,000. "That's better than being down 50%." Their taxes are estimated to be down $20,000. This is good news for the town and gives it a bit more wiggle room in its budget.

CLLR  Paul Morton introduced Chilly Willy, the Winter Carnival mascot at the meeting. Events include fireworks, casino, a bon fire. Funds raised will be used to purchase new equipment for the school playground. Watch for updates of the events. Register for the snowman contest and build your snowman at your home where he will be judged. WHAT ABOUT SNOW WOMAN, PAUL? ?? Hantsport councillors (and any other players - male and female - they can rope in) will play Windsor councillors. Times and events are subject to change. They will be posted here!

CLLR Bureaux suggested changes to Volunteer Night to make it more popular and exclusive.
