Hantsport to dissolve April 16/14

Hantsport town council voted 6 to 1 on the motion to dissolve the town at the special meeting on Wednesday, April 16. Citizens of the town and residents of the area packed the upper level of the Hantsport fire hall. This the third meeting held in eight day to discuss the issue.
All six councillors and the mayor spoke. Most of the councillors said they based their decisions on dollars and cents.
Councillor Faye Hill wanted to table the motion.
Deputy Mayor Harold Bulger demonstrated a deep emotional bond with the town. He said, however, that he would vote in the best interest of the town.
When the council voted with a show of hands, CCLR Hill voted against dissolving the town.
The motion was passed.
