To answer peoples' concerns about the future of CKF and Hantsport, hantsbordernews.ca inquired about the future of CKF. We received copies of the June 10, 2013, letter and a press release.
In the letter President & CEO of Scotia Investments Limited Archie MacPherson stated that MLA Ramona Jennex had announced "an investment and expansion" of the CKF plant in Hantsport.
"New machinery and equipment upgrades will increase productivity, expand product lines for our current and new markets, and reduce energy costs by converting to compressed natural gas for part of CKF's production process. This endeavor will create more than 30 new jobs and protect 260 jobs at the facility."
In the press release from the province, Jennex stated that CKF's expansion and creation of jobs are possible only with the government's assistance.
