A village - what it can and cannot do.

More than 70 people attended the Hantsport Area Community Information Meeting on July 9 to learn the meaning of village status. The meeting was held at the Hantsport Baptist Church.

Both Lewis Benedict, Chairman, N.S. Association of [24] Villages and Christine Blair, Councillor, Cumberland County, Past-chair, Board of Commissioners, Village of Bible Hill, spoke for 10 minutes . They then answered questions for 80 minutes. Ian Dunbar chaired the meeting. Thirty speakers asked questions.

Organizer Joe Foy introduced the evening as strictly an information meeting, not a meeting to decided if the town should chose village status.

Paul Price recorded the meeting and will put the recording on a disc. CAO Rob Frost will have it posted on the town's website, according to Foy.
