Dear Heather:
As this is Volunteer Appreciation week, I hope you will let me use your blog to say thank you to a large group of people who might not be considered to be "volunteers" in the usual sense of the word. These are the many citizens (I'd estimate about 40) who donated their talent, their expertise, and their time to prepare submissions for the UARB hearings in Hantsport. Whether part of a group, or individually, these people made sure that every aspect was researched, facts accumulated, facts checked, and results written up and presented in a professional manner. Among the many people who worked on these submissions were accountants, analysts, business people, bank managers, computer experts, consultants, engineers, office managers, plant workers, supervisors of large and small operations, teachers, writers -- the list goes on and on. Some are retired; some took time from their lives (and sometimes days off work). Many are life-long residents; others are people who chose Hantsport as a good place to live. All live in Hantsport. All care deeply about this community. . (Other municipalities must be green with envy over the concentration of expertise in this small town.)
If all of these people had billed the Town at the going hourly rate for their occupations, the total would have been
many , many thousands of dollars . So to these Volunteers ---- Thank You!
