Two mosquito players heading for Cuba!

Two of Hantsport's Mosquito baseball players are packed and ready to get on the plane early Sat. morning to head to Cuba as part of this year's Goodwill Tour.

Brett King from Hantsport, and Mitch Brown from the Brooklyn area, were invited to join 14 other players from Middleton to Stellarton on the Under 11 Selects team.

Coaches Trevor Croteau and Don Mailman used passion for the game as the main criteria
for the team.

They have been holding practices at the Soccer dome in Kentville as well as the Louis Millet center.   The players will be joined by their families for their time in Cuba.

As well as playing four baseball games the players will visit the schools of their hosts teams where they will pass out school supplies as well as used baseball equipment.   They will also have a day of fun with their opponents back at the resort where they will be staying.

The team, as well as individual players, did some fund raising to help with the cost for each player.
This year, 24 teams are scheduled to be on the tour.   The tour started in 2014 with two NS teams supporting the commmunitiesof Mantanzas and Holguin in Cuba.

Teams from Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Manitoba have all been part of this tour selecting their players to represent Canada as ambassadors.  Here's wishing them a great week of baseball and cultural experience.   For more info go online to www.caribbeanbaseballgoodwilltours.com.
