Save Hantsport Library

The Save Hantsport Library campaign was launched on June 12 at the Legion building on Main Street. Guests included  about 70 people from the public,  members of the  AVRL Board, Town of Hantsport Mayor and councillors, Municipality of West Hants , Warden and councillors, Kings County councillors and members of the Friends of the Hantsport Public Library and library staff.

The displays which included an architect’s concept drawing of the proposed library space impressed everyone. There was information on the cost of the renovations, information about the fundraising program and upcoming events and lots of information about the work of the Friends and resources in the library system.

Susan Oickle-Shano was the MC for the evening.  A highlight of the formal meeting was a greeting from Eudora Patterson, President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion.  She expressed her pleasure that the library would be housed in the former legion premises.  Margot Bureaux, Chair of the Fundraising Committee wrapped up the formal presentations for the evening with thanks to our municipal partners for their support and an invitation for all to participate in the series of fundraising events to take place over the next 10 -12 months.
