Village status to be included in application

Last night at Hantsport Town Council's meeting of the Committee of the Whole, council voted unanimously to include the possibility of village status in its application to the Utility and Review Board  for dissolution.

The subject originated in John Shanks's presentation regarding the dissolution process. He works under Stewart McKelvey and will represent the town in the hearing with the UARB scheduled for Thursday June 19 at the Fire Hall at 9:30 AM.

Shanks mentioned that the UARB will not impose village status. The town must state that it is considering village status for it to be included in the process.

During the public question session, Hantsport resident Jane Davis asked if the town has to include village status in its application for village status to be considered. When Mayor Rob Zwicker asked CAO Rob Frost, the CAO nodded. CLLR Paul Morton moved that the option of village status be included in the application, 2nd Deputy Mayor Harold Bulger. Council voted unanimously for the motion. The CAO stated he will amend the application.
