There is ice but it is not thick enough to skate on. The Halifax Oval has an ice plant under the surface. We don't. We have an asphalt tennis rink. Not the same!
When the temperature is 1 or 2 degrees C, some of the ice melts. It hardens again at night. But lately this cycle has repeated itself.
Therefore, hope for rain - not too much, not too warm. Just enough smooth the existing ice. And then COLD WEATHER!
The forecast looks positive. Some rain on Sunday or so and then back to temperatures below 0.
Last year, the ice in January stayed until the March break. Here's hoping.
(This info came from Lynda King on Thursday at the blog breakfast.)
