Pharmasave has new owners

WOLFVILLE BUSINESS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP

For Immediate Release October 30th, 2012

Wolfville, NS - Cochrane's Pharmasave, which was initially established in 1925, will come under new ownership as of November 20th, 2012. Cochrane's is currently owned by the husband and wife team of John and Georgie McNeil, along with co-owner Terry Broome.

Cochrane's new owners will be Pharmacist Kim Geldart and managing partner Larry Shipp. Ms. Geldart currently owns and operate three other Pharmasave drugstores in Hubbards, Chester, and Chester Basin on Nova Scotia's south shore. At a recent meeting where the purchase was unveiled to Cochrane's employees, Mr. Shipp stated that it will be "business as usual" for the three Valley stores, with locations in Wolfville, Canning, and Hantsport.

"We're very excited to have the levels of expertise at Cochrane's come within our company." said Mr. Shipp. "The combination of the six stores will allow us to enjoy increased buying power, shared resources, and will enable us to better serve our customers' needs in all six communities."

Cochrane's current president John McNeil has been a long-time friend of Ms. Geldart's, and expressed confidence in the future of the three Annapolis Valley locations. "Kim is a hard-working, hands-on business owner, who demonstrates a strong sense of community where she is now. Georgie and I are very pleased to see our business land in such capable and caring hands."

The company will continue to offer all of the standard and extended services to the community it has come to be known for. In addition to providing pharmacy services for a number of extended care facilities in the area, Cochrane's will continue to provide on-site medication compounding, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, foot care and blood collection services, and home health care. "Cochrane's has already been doing so many great things, and we intend to continue with those services and expand on them", said Ms. Geldart.

John, Georgie, and Terry will continue on as employees under the new ownership, with the McNeil's now being enabled to focus strictly on patient care without the added workload of running a business. "We became pharmacists so that we could assist others in their personal health and wellness programs. Having the company under Ms. Geldart's ownership will allow us to concentrate our efforts on patient care, where our first love has always been."
