Subject: Building Sale

Hi Everyone:  Today Brian discovered the Just Us Building had a new lock on the door and we couldn’t access the food bank!  A couple of phone calls revealed Just Us had put the new lock on the door with the belief the building would be sold before the end of the day.  Not sure how they expected us to access our FB.  The sale did not go through however due to some issues surrounding storage rooms that were still filled with items that the purchaser felt were to have been moved.  In discussion with the potential new owner after supper, we discovered our continued short term use of the building, as told to us by both realtors, was incorrect.  The purchaser wants our packing room in the near future, and immediately requires the space we use for shipping, bread distribution and large cooler area, as well as our unheated storage room!  This means we cannot continue to operate from this location.  We hope to hold off changes until after Wednesday of next week to allow us to distribute the December orders and Christmas hampers.  It is my belief from discussions with the potential new owner that we can do that.  We have already initiated a search for storage space to house our refrigerator, freezers, cooler, shelving, etc. and the food that will need to be stored.  There is a possibility the town has space in HMCC buildings.  We will pursue this tomorrow.  I will be in contact with Feed NS and the Wolfville FB to let them know of our situation.  We will prepare a letter for our clients to go out with the December orders next week. We hope to meet with the clergy involved before the letters are written as the churches will no doubt feel some of the impact of our closure.  We have the food and finances to assist, just not the facility.
I will be in touch as further developments arise.

Shirley
(I certainly hope. Shirley, that you can talk the new owner into an extension. Otherwise, the grinch will certainly steal Christmas for many people. I will up date this story when material is available).
