Those who attended the March 25th meeting to determine the future of the Lockhartville Community Hall were disappointed when only 22 attended. It was a "failure to communicate". Councillor Mike Ennis chaired.
The Lockhartville Community Club has a balance of $615.91 with $1052.33 in outstanding bills. In addition, the club owes money to the Hantsport and District Lions Club and to Dallas Smith.
On March 11, 2013, the Board of Directors of the club sent a letter to the Lions to see if they were interested in acquiring the hall.
The meeting was called to determine if the Lockhartville community was in favour of the Lions acquiring the hall from the club with the understanding that the hall would still be available for those in the Lockhartville community. The hall would be under the supervision of the Lions.
In 1967 the Municipality of the County of Kings had deeded the lot with the former schoolhouse and a neighbouring lot to the the Centre for $1.
After many questions were asked and answered, the group concluded that fliers will be placed in all mailboxes informing residents of another meeting. When it was noted that there was no money for fliers, $110 was immediately collected..
