Running on empty

As we all realize there are many less fortunate folks in our community.  Many are using our local food bank and unfortunately, demand for these food items is at an all time high.

HMCC would like to step in/help out and at the same time start to promote physical activity in our area.  We’re about to launch “Running on Empty” (check out our groovy logo) and we’re asking for your support. There will be no “formal” sign up sheet but Leah Winter will be posting all sponsors names on our HMCC website, if the sponsor would like.

We’ll have a number of RWB’s (Runners, Walkers, Bikers) attempting to attain and maintain a weekly distance of activity.  The distances will be monitored and posted on the HMCC website, every Monday.  The concept is for each RWB to have sponsors (that would be you J) and if the weekly distance is achieved the sponsors will donate 1 item of food to the food bank.

As an RWB, I’m committing to run 20K weekly.

My results will be emailed to you directly every Monday with a link to the HMCC website.  If you’re interested in helping sponsor me, for every week I make my goal you would be asked to donate a food item at the Food Bank Box at Save Easy.  We would ask you to mark your donation ROE (Running on Empty) so we can monitor the amount of food gathered under our program.

As of now our starting group of RWB’s are:  Lorraine McQueen, Heather Davidson, Paul Syme, Scott Bennett and me.  The other RWB’s will be getting there own sponsors and it will be up to them to set their weekly goal (minimum of 3 K per week).  I’m sure we’ll be adding more RWB’s as the program grows.

I’m respectfully asking you to consider sponsoring me.  The program starts on Sunday, March 17th with the first weekly results being posted Monday, March 25th.

Thanks~
