Pool halls (ie. billiard parlours ), gas stations, and barber shops were important in the history of the Shamrock baseball team history. They were male-only bastions - escapes from females.
And we certainly want to include them in our Shamrocks Day. Our committee has divided up the research and these are some of my topics.
I read through the old Hantsport School yearbooks and found the following ads:
1948 - C.A. Langille - barber shop, billiards, taxi service.
-John Jacques - Hantsport Garage
1950 - Starratts' Garage
1955 - Walsh's Barber Shop
- Charlie Chute's Esso
1958 - Walter Urban's Fina Service
- Gerald Wilcox - Garage and Service Station
1978 - Whitey's Fina
1985 - Richard Bishop's Esso
But there most be more. Please help,
-Heather
