SHAMROCK DAZE! A celebration of baseball: the uniforms & artifacts. PART ONE

Shamrock Day: a Celebration of Baseball in Hantsport gave a glimpse on April 21 of the sport's contribution to Hantsport and Area. The Friends of the Hantsport Public Library organised the event which was a tremendous success. Basballers Merle Carey anc Shane Oikle told me yesterday that they really enjoyed the afternoon. At least 150 people attended.
The program included poems written by children and read by local kids from the book Poem Runs, Shamrock's coach for 2013 Deron Moores reading Yogo Berra quotes, music by Rebekah Mazner and her students, an intermission with hot popcorn, a display of baseball memorabilia from baseballs to uniforms, and Francine Belbin leading the crowd in the song, Take me out to the ball game!

PART TWO will be posted later today and tomorrow.

From Jemn Brother's class.

Tropies and ribbons loaned by Jack Lockhart of Avonport.

The uniform complete with socks was worn by Bang Sanford in the 1930s and donated by Peggy Arnold Jones  to the Hantsport & Area Historica Society. The two jackets belong to Earle Schurman,
