(This is an email from the NS government)
Friends,
On Friday our NDP government announced Mainstreet 2.0, an initiative to help revitalize downtown cores across Nova Scotia.
The program will provide grants of up to $1,000 to help communities look good and show their civic pride. Sometimes all it takes is a new coat of paint or a fresh flower bed to make neighbourhoods more welcoming and vibrant.

Of course, we already know the positive impact the Mainstreet program can have. In the 1980s and early 1990s it helped provide a boost to many areas until it was suddenly axed by the Liberals.
As one newspaper of the time read: “Program Cancellation Hurt Local Merchants.”
Later the Conservatives talked about reinstating the Mainstreet program but never followed through. Because the NDP balanced the budget we are now in a position to correct some of the more damaging cuts the Liberals made in the 1990s. Cuts Stephen McNeil will undoubtedly make again if given the chance.
Friends, lets not allow that to happen. Please share the news of Mainstreet 2.0 so people know how the NDP is moving Nova Scotia towards a brighter future. We’ve worked too hard to get to this point, let’s not take a step backwards.
Yours truly,
