During this past 24 hours , Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th of this beautiful month of August
I’ve had the pleasure to watch a Championship in the Works, right before my very own eyes ! Where
pre tell this all happened you might ask ? Well , happy to report right here in this Haven of Hantsport!
Yes I participated with lots of other spectators , mostly strong and ardent Fans of a Team called the
Hantsport Shamrocks in their distinct Dark Green and White uniforms. I have to confess this was a first
for me , but happy now to say ,not the last. These players put me in mind of the strength our Soldiers
had when they went to War for us so many years and times ago. The character and determination they
showed us during these glorious days of our passing summer was second to no one. They were going to win
and that’s all there was to it! Watching No. 23 try to turn a single into double and seeing him slowly rise
to his feet and then dust himself off was a throwback for us all, I’m sure who witnessed it. Talk about
fearless and head first, wow ! Then seeing the old Golden Glove Vet smash a fowl tip into his foot, and
then walk it off and go back to bat again. Really gut wrenching stuff but what Champions are made of!
Last but not forgotten was when a young Out Fielder was called into the breach to close the game out.
Heck the pressure and willingness to come to mound was like our Boys boarding the Ships at Halifax
on their ways to who knew what , so many years ago. Yep, all Champions and so awe inspiring to witness.
Congrats & Well Done Boys !!
