The above statement is an accepted economic principal, according to the authors of the book 13 Ways to Kill Your Community. The following example applies this to Hantsport:
- I bought a pizza at Hantsport Pizzeria on the weekend.
- An employee from there then bought something at PHARMASAVE.
- An employee from there bought something at the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation.
- An employee from there bought something from Home Hardware.
- An employee from there bought something from Save Easy.
- An employee from there had work on the car done at Bird's Auto.
- An employee from there had lunch at William Square Café.
Where price and quality compare, buying local makes sense if we want to maintain our existing businesses and to attract new businesses.
