GIVING HANTSPORT A FACELIFT

Members of the former Hantsport Legion posed with the Tidal Impact group
which spruced up the Veterans' Memorial Gardens at HMCC.

Spurred by news of the mill closure, former Hantsport boy and current pastor of the New Maryland Baptist church, Rev. Todd Coldwell brought a group of New Brunswick teenagers to Hantsport to spruce up the town.

The 13 youngsters ranging from ages 12 to 16 and their councillors were joined by three Hantsport teens - Nathaniel Maxner, Ties Bouwman and Kelly Bouwman.

Todd is the youth paster at the New Maryland church and son of Terry and Mary Lee Coldwell of Hantsport Baptist Church.

The group of teens are members of Tidal Impact, part of the Atlantic Baptist  Convention. This year at least 1000 young Baptists are working on projects in Halifax and the Annapolis Valley.

This week they collected 1000+ pounds of food for the Hantsport Food Bank, painted dugouts, and cleaned out several gardens. One was Veterans Memorial Garden in front of the Churchill House which they had worked on seven years ago.

"How do you get green paint off your hands?"
Gracie Kierstead, Hannah Coldwell, Vistoria Kentford,
and Erin Kierstead try to answer this question.

Representative of the Hantsport Legion: (LR) Terry Coldwell,  David Folker,
Eudora Patterson, Joey Patterson, John Harvie.
