13 WAYS TO KILL YOUR COMMUNITY - only one reaction

Editorial:

I was disappointed that there was only one reaction to my Posts and Pages on the book 13 WAYS TO KILL YOUR COMMUNITY. Councillor Margot Bureaux supported ideas about getting youth involved in the community.

The title was devised to be ironic and humorous. Ironic in that the authors meant the opposite. They did not want to kill communities. They wanted to revive communities. And humour, unfortunately, is subjective. What is funny to one is not funny to another.

Doug Griffiths is serving his third term in the Alberta Legislature. He has visited most of the 422 communities in Alberta and has met countless civic leaders and ordinary citizens to learn their points of view.

Kelly Clemmer is an experienced newsman and has won several prestigious journalism awards.

Their main point is that councils and/or councillors cannot turn a community around. The citizens must take responsibility and act.

Rather than continue reviewing the chapters, I will simply post the titles of the chapters on the Page at right.
