To Phil Vanzoost,Hantsport rep on AVRSB:
I received the following email in connection with the future library at Hantsport School. I have posted it as a comment under the post Fundy Gypsum/budget/volunteer of the year on Jan. 25/14.
I would appreciate a reply which I can print.
Thanks!

I am a former resident of Hantsport, attended Hantsport School and eventually taught there for five years. I often wondered why there was a regional library in the 'new school' yet students were never allowed in it during school hours. This policy has changed since then and students have a library time scheduled.
As a student, it wasn't a good feeling knowing I never had a library in either the old school, now an apartment building, or the present school site. Imagine never having a school library in all your years of schooling. Thanks to Georgie Wall, a former town resident and Memorial University professor, who had a lending library in her house on William Street, for volunteering her time to passionately engage kids so they could become a lover of books. Unfortunately it wasn't the school that provided this learning experience; it was Georgie Wall, who influenced may town kids to appreciate borrowing books to be read for pleasure. The teachers were hard-working, but were limited to the few classroom resources they had to support their teaching.
Will the AVRSB let students leave Hantsport School without having an up to date library?
