Have your say about NS Power's response to Arthur.

Hi David,
Last month the province was impacted by post-tropical storm Arthur. As a result, over 140,000 customers lost electricity, in some cases for several days or even a week. Losing power during the storm was in itself very frustrating, but more so was the unreliable information coming from Nova Scotia Power and the slow response.
NS Power’s communication systems were unprepared for the volume of calls and estimated servicing times were anything but accurate. There were even reports of people being told their power was on as they sat in the dark.

No one questions the hard work of linemen in the aftermath of the storm. They worked very long days scattered across the province reconnecting our homes and businesses. Instead, questions surround NS Power’s planning, whether that be around pre-storm tree trimming or communications investments.
The PC Caucus recognized NS Power’s response to the storm was unacceptable. That is why I wrote to the Utility and Review Board on July 10 requesting a review of the company’s actions.
As a result, the Board is seeking input from Nova Scotians on the impact of the storm and concerns over NS Power’s response.
Anyone wishing to submit comments may do so by September 9 to: board@gov.ns.ca or

You can find all of the submitted documents regarding this file on the Board’s website under case number M06321.
Last year, we introduced a Bill before the Legislature that would hold NS Power accountable to service standards and penalize them if standards were not met. We have told the Liberal government that it is time to get tough on NS Power.
Your letters to the Board will show to the government that Nova Scotians are tired of paying the highest electricity rates in the country for substandard service.
Sincerely,
Chris d'Entremont, MLA
