Artist Sarah Thibault makes many beautiful objects with nothing in order to comment on society.
She is completing a six month artist in residence program with sculptor Colleen Wolstenholme in Hants Border.
Sarah takes chicken wire, covers it with paper maché, and then covers that with symbols of wealth and power such as jewelry, false gold leaf, and fabric. Her work criticizes society while being attractive.
Sarah, who is from Quebec City, will place her work in a show in a Montreal art gallery as part of her residency in Hants Border. The title, loosely translated, is The the appearance of household items does not reflect its reality.

Colleen helped her find her materials and introduced her to the Halifax art community.
