HMCC VOLUNTEERS CELEBRATED!

We celebrated all volunteers from the past, those from the present and those in the future - Volunteerism is  the foundation for all that happens at HMCC.  The only 'honorarium' this time was Jillian Miller who was an outstanding young person who embodies all that a volunteer can be.

I'm always impressed when young people step up and help out.  It is a great way to build skills that can very well turn into employment in the future.

I met Jillian two years ago as we were trying to get the pool up and running for its first year being run independently.  She is a friend of Eleanor Gallant.  Jillian was there with her mother and siblings willingly helping out in any way that was asked of them.  We needed a pool house employee and I offered the job to Jill.  She accepted and I haven't regretted the decision.  Two years later she continues to be an outstanding asset in the extra hours and ways she volunteers, although she has held the position of Pool House Staff.  Our hopes are that she earns her LifeGuarding Certificate this year to be one of complement of Life Guards for the summer in 2016.  Jillian is a Grade 11 student at Kings Edgehill.
