Kim is setting up Williams Square Café in the building previously known as Just Us Coffee and/or Hantsport Food Bank.
The area directly in front of the entrance door with lunch counter will feature soups, desserts, and coffee. She will have a number of small tables and chairs for diners. Kim has an agreement with Just Us Coffe to set up the machines to make coffee. In the summer she hopes to have picnic tables in front of the shop.
To the right is the convenience store.
Kim is concerned about the deplorable condition of the Ship's Landing building and its rats.
Kim will probably live above the cafe. "After working til 11 PM, I won't want to drive back to Kentville." This will leave a large space upstairs. She is not sure what she will do with it yet.
She hopes to open December 26 or 27. "People tell me I'm too optimistic," she said with a laugh. She has a business relationship with TRA and Sobeys. TRA drew up the plans.
While speaking to Brian Bishop, Kim learned that the food bank committee will meet in January. It's priority is to find a new co-ordinator. The future of the food bank depends on that. Then, there is the matter of space.
Kim lives in Kentville, but has always been attracted to Hantsport. She has relatives and friends here. Her father had a general store in Upper Burlington. She has been working at Mud Creek Convenience for about four years, two and one half as manager. A few years ago she considered the building at Main and William but it went off the market before she made any plans.
Kim is enthusiastic about her new enterprise in Hantsport.
