What doctors want - again

Doctors Nova Scotia surveyed its members in 2012 for recruiting and retaining doctors.
Here are their results:
  • 79% believe better access to resources such as specialist would improve physician recruitment.
Hantsport has access to specialists in Wolfville, Kentville, and Windsor.
  • 92 % believe work-life balance was important.
Of course. See below. I know personally how important this is.
  • 80% believe patient volume impacts ability to recuit. More support from a team of nurses will help patient workload.
Hantsport has one nurse practitioner. Perhaps we need a second.
  • 93% indentified competitive compensation.
Of course.

The above came from Katie Mallam, communiciations advisor, Doctors Nova Scotia, and was reported in the September issue of NEWS & VIEW, P.3.

When I menitioned this to Lisa MacDonald of Capital Health, she was unaware of these results.
