Items from the May 7 town council meeting in addition to the approval of the budget.

The fire inspection and building inspection of the former Town Hall on  the corner of William  and Oak streets resulted in the engineering firm Hiltz & Seamone stating that it was "not horrible". The site is being considered as a possible location for the Hantsport Public Library,.
Although the building is very old, it was well built.
It would cost approximately $100,000 to renovate the downstairs; however, a new library would require 2500 sq.ft. and the building has only1500 sq.ft.

Money will be borrowed to pay for the new roof  for the Fire Hall.

The pilot project to meet standards for Hantsport water is perfect, according to CAO Rob Frost. It is definitely the solution. The question is - what does the town need to do to install it?

On June 22,  the innovative group 21 Inc will do something (?) in town as part of Hantsport's revitalization. Currently the plans are under wraps but they will film whatever they are do in Hantsport and then show it to other communities. So, Hantsport will itself be a pilot project!

Cuts to the police budget were "quick and dirty" according to CAO Frost, The town will be relying more on Citizens on Patrol, Crime Watchers, Neighbourhood Watch and the cameras. Two more cameras may be installed with one at Avon and Tannery Road.

Public Works will not replace its retiring member John Brewster and will have four employees.
