Hantsport Town Council met in the pouring rain at the Crime Stoppers sign on July 23 to discuss relocating the sign. Rick Gaudet of that organization also attended. Several residents had complained that the sign might give the mistaken impression to visitors that the town has a high crime rate.
After considering the options, council decided to leave the sign where it is. Any possible space that could be used is so close to the existing sign, that moving the sign would make little difference, according to Mayor Rob Zwicker. This is the standard size that is used in all towns and public places.
