Committee of the Whole meeting January 21 part 2
CLLE Paul Morton asked if HMCC meetings are open to the public.
"I can't imagine them being closed," Mayor Rob Zwicker stated.
HMCC Board member Bill Preston replied that according to the bylaws the public can only attend the AGM. In order for the public to attend regular meetings, the bylaws must be changed.
"What are they trying to hide?" the mayor asked. He claimed to have been asked to leave a meeting.
Harold Bulger stated that when he was president of HMCC, the meetings were open to the public but the public could only speak if they had prior permission. This was the procedure at town council meetings until Mayor Zwicker was elected.
"If it is open to the public, it should be held in a public place," CLLR Morton suggested.
