Future of Scotia Investments buildings uncertain. And more from COW.

Committee of the Whole meeting January 21 part 3

CAO Rob Frost stated that the future of the Scotia Investments' buildings in the town is uncertain. Some people are interested in buying some of the buildings. This will not affect the tax base of the town 2014 - 2015. But if the buildings are vacant in 2015 - 2016, the tax rate may be affected. These buildings do present opportunities for new ventures.

Currently 2400 people in Nova Scotia are waiting for long term facility beds. Of these, 1324 are in Capital Health district, according toy CLLR Harold Bulger. He is the town's representative on the Dykeland board. Dykeland has 99.8% occupancy.

Changes at Hantsport Memorial Community Centre include Pat Gould-Thorpe who is developing a business plan for HMCC and Gil Doucette who is the new accountant.

Hantsport & Area Food Bank now has charitable status. The Baptist Church is no longer doing its books. Its AGM will be held February 6 at 7 PM at the Food Bank.
