Editorial: Women share their experiences IWD.

At the last minute Hantsport's celebration of International Womens' Day on March 8 was changed from Lorraine McQueen's home to my house at 49 Avon Street. Lorraine had had emergency surgery on an eye on Friday. I had asked Lorraine to host the event because her home is wheelchair accessible.

Many women called to say they were sorry they could not attend. For many, Saturday afternoon is a time for helping family and friends. 

We talked about many subjects including books, issues, and nutrition while we ate and drank tea. We  represented three generations. We shared many common experiences but each generation was different too. Four of us were from the immediate area. Karen lives in Falmouth. And Kristen, a newcomer, is originally from Sudbury.  Each one shared how one woman had a strong influence on her life.

Let's do this again next year!
