It didn't look good for the weather on Saturday morning. But fans came prepared for the music and the weather. I don't know how many people were there but by the time Matt Minglewood played, the crowds were huge.
And I think it attracted a lot of people - some who may never been to Hantsport before. Another real positive spin on the community.
I missed the Parson Brothers and Friends. While No Name Blues Band, Highway 125, and Hupman Brothers played I was back a far distance from the stage. I enjoyed their music but I also socialized.
But when Matt played I was in the front row - right below the stage. AND WOW!!! The vibrations of the music knocked me back. Excuse my enthusiasm but I had never been to such a concert before. Where I sat I could see the musicians play and see their expressions on their faces. The piano player was so into the music, he often played with his eyes closed. And the fingers on the strings!
I almost envied the people in the wet section. They were standing and could really dance to the music. I'm learning to dance in a chair!
I am probably one of the 1% of Nova Scotians who didn't know Matt's music or had ever been to an outdoors music festival, so pardon my enthusiasm but boy, have I been missing out on life! My favourite song? " Keep you head down. You're in Kandahar." Matt wrote it and sang it in Afghanistan.
Thanks to everyone who put so much effort into the festival.
DO IT AGAIN! AND I'LL BE IN THE FRONT ROW FOR ALL OF THE FESTIVAL!
Sorry, no pics. I've decided to see life with my eyes - not through a camera.
