Hi all,
My friend, Sister Jovita, works with street outreach in Halifax which includes a daily meal weekdays at the Basilica. They generally serve lunch daily to 150 or more people.
They strive to provide good nutritious meals.
Sister was visiting yesterday and I was looked around at the bounty of crops here in the Valley ... We wondered if there might be a farmer who might consider donating some fruit and or vegetables ?
There are many generous people we just need to know how to access. For example, Just Us Coffee has been donating coffee , tea, etc to Metro NonProfit for years..... ( not a small amount of product as the Coffee Shop serves over 100 cups of coffee daily!!!!!!!!)
I would be willing to pick up and transport any donated goods to Halifax...
Last year Sister and some volunteers went to a farmers field and picked the remaining corn which was going to be mowed under and were able to share with their folks..... And I am sure we could do something similar here...
Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
Thanks
Shelley
