This is what Hantsport is all about!
I recommend this. We went a few years ago with Jim and another person at Long Island at low tide. As the tide came it, the water quickly and literally curled around us.
ReplyDeleteThere may not be quicksand out there but I think that air sometimes becomes trapped in the mud. If you step in that place, you're in. Jim demonstrated that the stuck person can use the pail to pull himself out of the mud.
We had a similar experience recently at Scots Bay - but no pail. My friend had one leg stuck in the mud to her thigh. Luckily the tide was well out. We yelled for help. Two young men came and yanked my friend out. We all resolved to NEVER go out alone!!! No wonder there are stories of people and horses drowning in the incoming tide.
